Double Storey Side & Rear

Project Description

This home underwent a full transformation, combining a double storey side and rear extension with a complete internal refurbishment. The original property had strong character, but the layout, finishes, and exterior all felt dated and disconnected. The owners wanted a fresh start without moving — a home that felt modern, well-planned, and finished to a higher standard.

The extension allowed the house to gain valuable space across both floors, while the full refurbishment reintroduced clarity and balance throughout the interior. From the modern open-plan kitchen and dining area to the warm, characterful study with bespoke shelving, every room was redesigned to feel purposeful and welcoming. Externally, the home was completely refreshed with crisp render, modern detailing, and a clean, symmetrical frontage that brings new life to the street.

This project shows how a combination of thoughtful extensions and a full-house refurbishment can completely reshape a property, creating a home that feels both contemporary and timeless.

Case Study

The project involved extending the property at both the side and rear while simultaneously carrying out a full internal renovation. Structurally, the double storey additions provided the space needed to reorganise the layout, improving circulation and allowing the interior spaces to be redesigned from the ground up. This opened the opportunity for a modern kitchen and dining space featuring large sliding doors, a redesigned ceiling with integrated lighting, and a high-end contemporary finish throughout.

A separate living and study area was also reimagined, with bespoke illuminated shelving, rich joinery, and a more intimate atmosphere created through controlled lighting and darker tones. These internal elements were supported by a full refurbishment of the home’s finishes, flooring, and overall layout to create a consistent aesthetic across the property.

Externally, the original dated façade was replaced with fresh render, new window profiles, and a reworked porch that gives the home a more refined and cohesive presence. The completed project demonstrates how extensions and full-house refurbishment can work together to modernise an older property while enhancing both its functionality and appearance.
