Extension, Loft & Outbuilding

Project Description

This project began with a growing family in need of more space, functionality, and a home that could support their evolving lifestyle. The brief called for a complete transformation without losing the character of the original house. Our response was a carefully designed double-storey rear and side extension that opened up the ground floor into a light-filled, open-plan living and kitchen area—perfect for entertaining and family life.

A custom-designed games room was added, fitted with AV features and ambient lighting, creating a dedicated space to relax and unwind. Upstairs, the layout was reconfigured to provide a spacious master suite and better connectivity throughout the home.

We also introduced two modern garden outbuildings—one used as a private gym, the other as a home office—both fully insulated and finished to match the quality of the main house. Clean lines, full-width glazing, and contemporary finishes tie the design together, delivering a refined, high-performance family home tailored to modern living.

Thinking of extending your home? Whether you need space to grow, work from home, or simply want to reimagine how you live, we’re here to help turn your vision into reality—with precision, creativity, and planning expertise every step of the way.

Case Study

The design process began with a detailed site survey using 3D scanning to ensure accuracy from the start. Early consultations focused on understanding the family’s priorities: more space, natural light, and a better connection between the home and garden.

Planning constraints shaped the form of the side extension, requiring a sensitive approach to boundary lines and neighbour impact. We worked closely with the council to secure approval, adapting the roofline and glazing strategy to meet local guidance while retaining the contemporary feel the client wanted.

One of the key design moves was opening up the rear with full-width glazing and flush thresholds, blurring the line between inside and out. Internally, steelwork allowed us to remove supporting walls and create a seamless open-plan living area without compromising structure.

The construction phase presented challenges with drainage routing and material coordination, particularly with matching existing brickwork and integrating new steel frames. Regular site visits and tight coordination with contractors ensured the design intent was protected throughout.

Today, the home not only meets the client’s practical needs—it elevates everyday living through thoughtful design, durable materials, and a focus on detail.
